Fast and Furious

This weekend was packed! Friday night we went to dinner to celebrate Kelly's and Mamo's birthdays.

Aunt Patsy was still in town and my cousins Jennifer and Michael came in for the weekend.

Kelsey stayed with us over the weekend while Daniel worked and we really enjoyed having her. She went to dinner with me on Friday night. Nathan had to work. Kelsey had so much fun playing with all the kids. They each had their own Nintendo DS and I thought it was so funny to hear them talk about downloading and chatting in "chat room A". What ever happened to good 'ole Monopoly, Tripoly and Yahtzee?

After dinner we went to Aunt Dixie's house for some cake and icecream...After our family get together Kelsey and I went home. Nathan got home from work and the three of us worked a bit in the kitchen. Kelsey loves to cook! She helped me make a broccoli salad and she helped Nathan prepare our breakfast. He has this recipe for Creme Brulee French Toast and it is to die for. You make it at night and then bake it in the morning. We stayed up playing Wii and then I finally had to go to bed!

I forgot to mention that before I picked Kelsey up for dinner I went to see Amy at the hospital. Becki met me there. We both were able to go in and see her. She was still in ICU. She was in a great mood and looked amazing. She even had on make up! Mascara, at that! She had bandages on her head and Mike joked about putting rhinestones on it. :)

Saturday morning I woke up early and picked up some breakfast tacos for her and headed back to the hospital. Becki met me there again. Still in ICU but checking into a room later in the day. We had a great time visiting with her. About 9:15 her neurologist came in and asked Becki and I to leave the room so he could remove the bandages and the drain. I knew this would be a stressful time for her. We left the room and went to see Ginger, who coincidentally just had her baby. On our way back over to the ICU I got a call from Amy saying we could come back. We walked in and saw her beautiful head and all bandages gone! I was amazed at how talented her doctor was! The area where he operated was so small even though they chose the more invasive operation. The patch was no bigger than a silver dollar. Her beautiful hair was all still there except for that small area. As time got closer to 10 am I had to head out. We were having breakfast with Daniel and Kelsey at home.

After we ate breakfast we all got on the road for Kelsey's soccer game in Kerrville. She was so awesome out there! They tied 1-1.

After the soccer game, Daniel had to head back to San Antonio for work and Nathan, Kelsey, Larry, Sylvia and myself got back into the car and continued our journey to Jollyville (Austin) for a family BBQ. We had a nice visit with Nathan's uncle and cousins. Susan came in from Fort Worth and Mindy and Erica live close by Chris. We had a great time. Kelsey made some new friends and played with a giant frisbee...

This is Nathan's cousin Karen...

After our dinner we drove back to San Antonio. Kelsey and Nathan stayed up late playing video games and I was the party pooper and went to bed. I got up and went to work and Nathan brought Kelsey to church. She stayed with me for Sunday school and Kids Praise and Daniel picked her up around noon.

In the afternoon we went to the Witte Museum with Amy, Tim and Nico to see "OUR BODY" the exhibit with real preserved human bodies. It was incredible and beautifully done. I thought I would be weirded out and sick to my stomach but I did pretty well. After our tour we went to La Madeleine. Great day!

This morning we woke up and worked in the yard all day. We planted some philodendrons in the front yard. We also planted some gladiolas. We raked leaves and planted 2 Japanese Maples in the back. Nathan is really, really into Japanese Maples. For dinner we had Tige, Sara, Faith, Adam and Alyssa over for dinner. Here are some cute shots with Sara and little Faith.

Wow! You had a really full weekend! It was great to see all of you on Saturday. The BBQ was soooo good. I'm very glad to hear that Amy is doing well. I pray for her and her family often.
