For Christmas Granny gave us tickets to see Phantom of the Opera. We decided that the perfect night to go and see it was Palm Sunday. A great way to spend a relaxing evening after the busy pageant weekend. I love the theater and have seen many great shows but I've never seen Phantom.
Kelly and Clint were supposed to go tonight too but they're still fighting the flu. She gave Tommy and Christine their tickets. We didn't get to go out to dinner....bummer! We just didn't have enough time. The show was great and I loved it! I love Broadway shows where the sets and costumes are boarder-line over the top and this show definitely was. I'm not a huge Andrew Lloyd Weber fan. I blame that on CATS. My expectations were just so high when I went to see CATS, I left disappointed. I thought CATS was a super long show with "pretty good" music about absolutely nothing.
Back to Phantom...I think my retinas are burned. At one point in the show the Phantom is getting angry at Christine for falling in love with Raoul and to show them his displeasure, fire flashes all across the front of the stage and shoots about 4 feet in the air which is just enough to blind you. I bet the people in the front row singed their eyebrows off.
