1st Food- Green Beans

Last night, Thursday night- February 25th was the day we first tried a "real food" with Amelia. We chose to start with green beans. I'll let you see for yourself how it went.

In this first video she makes it look not so bad....

Check out her faces on this one....priceless!
Side note- Nathan is on the phone with his mom....

Here she is with just a small teeny tiny taste. Processing....processing......

"Is she kidding me?!"

"Yucky!"
She didn't like the taste initially going down the hatch but she quickly would get over the bitterness and she looked like she actually liked it!

MY FAVORITE PICTURE!

"How do I get this off of my tongue!?"

I'm gagging, people!
This adventure was so much fun today!

6 Months Old

Our sweet Amelia Ruth is 6 MONTHS OLD today! I can't believe how fast time is flying by.

Nathan and I love watching her and talking about the cute stuff she does.

*She's been on rice cereal for a month now. We started her on it a couple of days after her 5th month b-day. We're starting green beans or carrots tommorrow night. I'm so excited to start an actual food! We were going to try it last night at my mom's house while we were over picking up Zeta but I forgot my camera so we had to postpone.

*Sitting up. She still needs a hand to balance every now and then.

*Brushing teeth. Well, gums. She lets us use her little toothbrush and brush, brush, brush those little gums! I'm sure it feels good on those little gums as they try to let little teeth come through.

* Tummy sleeper. We still always put her down on her back but within a few minutes, she's on her belly and sawing logs! She's working on getting that booty up in the air.

*Sucks fingers. She switches from the thumb to the index finger to the 2 middle fingers until she gags herself. Her fingers are long! I think she'll learn that the thumb is her best bet.

*She's saying mamamamama. I don't know if she's associating that with me for momma or if its just a new sound she's making. I like to think she's saying momma.

Aspen

Nathan, Amelia and I are in Aspen with a few friends and we are loving this gorgeous place. Jo has a connection to a beautiful house in the mountains and let me tell you, we are living the good life right now. Her friends Mary Grace and Larry from Houston are here and Amy, Mike and Addison, too. Amy and Mike drove in on Friday and the rest of us flew in Thursday morning.

Amelia did great on both flights....SA to Denver and Denver to Aspen. She was happy and enjoyed all the attention she got for being so dad-gum cute! Our flight left SA at 6:15 am and we got to Aspen at 9am.
We flew Frontier and Nathan and I highly recommend this airline. They were great, especially with us traveling with Amelia. They made us feel so welcome and comfortable. Nathan got a little extra attention because one of the Frontier female employees that checked us in at the counter also checked us in at the gate. She saw Nathan in "Daddy Action" and truth be told, he IS awesome and she caught a glimpse and a little crush. She made a big fuss over him and called him "Wonder Dad".

The house is amazing! Thanks, Joey for the awesome accommodations. Here is the view from the front door....
And here is the view out of our bedroom. We had a door that led to to the patio...

Here's Jo, Nathan and Amelia eating breakfast at the house on Friday morning.
Amelia eating breakfast....
This house had everything. Even though we brought a pack and play with us because we didn't know what they had, they had a beautiful crib on our bedroom. Amelia was super comfy all weekend...

The skiing as awesome, so they tell me! I'm a little jealous but I'll just have to wait a few years until Amelia is a little older for ski school. Here are some pictures of Snowmass Village
The place is amazing. Take a look AROUND. Nathan used Photosynth software so you could see a 3-D 360 view of the place. It's pretty cool....

Amy, Nathan, Amelia and I rode the Gondola a few times. It was great to see all the skiing in action. Nathan did ski but hung with us for a while....

Here's the gang hanging out at Sneaky's
Sneaky's wasn't the only great place for grub while in Aspen. The Main Street Cafe and Poppy Cock's were great, too. Here's Amelia at Poppy Cock's where mommy had some yummy blueberry and granola pancakes....
Stay tuned for Aspen part two....

Valentine's Day...better late than never

Valentine's Day 2010 was wonderful! It fell on a Sunday so work was in the mix but I worked extra hard to have everything ready for Sunday school and worship so we could take our time with Amelia in the morning. Nathan got her a special Precious Moments figurine and a beautiful card saying how lucky he was to be Amelia's first Valentine.
He loves our little girl so much and I pray that their relationship continues to grow throughout her life. I got her a book for Valentine's Day and it's for her and Nathan to share. The book is called "A- You're Adorable" and it takes you through the alphabet. It's special because it's really a song that Nathan's mom used to sing to him. We didn't know it was a book. I just stumbled across it at Barnes and Noble a few days before Valentine's Day.

After church we went to Sylvia's for lunch and Kelsey had sent a few things for Amelia. Kesley loves her cousin a ton and she told Daniel that she wanted to get Amelia some V-day gifts. When they went shopping, Daniel reached for his wallet and she told him that she was going to pay for the gifts. She said that if they were going to be from her she had to buy them. She has a heart of gold, that little girl.

Here is the balloon from Kelsey. Amelia loved how big and shiny it was!
Here is a little heart pillow she picked out for Amelia...

Sweetheart Breakfast

This morning was Concordia's Day Care SWEETHEART BREAKFAST! My littlest sweetheart wore a cute hand me down from Ashley. A Winnie the Pooh overall set. We got ready this morning and headed out the door.
Once we arrived, we were greeted with a vase of carnations. Each parent recieved a carnation from their child. Thanks, Amelia! I love it!

Out in the multi-purpose room they had a beautiful spread. A cereal bar, milk, coffee and juice bar, pasteries and fruit. We had a great time!

The decorations were so special. I really loved the slide show they had playing. I was able to snap a shot of Amelia's picture up on the big screen....

Happy 1st Valentine's Day, sweetheart!

PS...Check out her sweet outfit from yesterday...

Baby legwarmers are the cutest!

1st Fever

Well, my baby got her first fever today. This morning she woke up and felt HOT. I took her temperature and it was 101 then 102 then 103! Yes, I was freaking out. I called the doctor at 6:15 this morning and spoke to a nurse who told me if it got to 105 to take her to the ER. I was about to load her up in the car at 103 but then it went down pretty quickly after a good squirt of Tylenol. Her fever broke within an hour of the Tylenol but then it went back up and stayed around 100 all day long. I held her non-stop. That's the ONLY good thing about our day. There's nothing more sad than your little one being sick and being so small she can't tell you what hurts. I'm staying home with her again tomorrow because she has to be fever free for 24 hours. I hope she wakes up feeling her normal happy self.

Two things that helped us today were the Nose Frida and Infant Tylenol. Get well, Amelia!

1st Cereal

Amelia turned 5 months a few weeks ago and part of her celebration at home was....CEREAL! We were so excited for this moment. We had 2 video cameras and our regular camera ready to go. Our little star shined- just like we hoped she would!

For her 1st cereal, the box suggests 1 tablespoon of cereal to 2-3 tablespoons of breast milk. It was super runny but she ate it anyway.

Here she is right before the official taste test...

"What the?????"

Here she is with a few more days under her belt AND she's in her high chair....

She nurses 5 times a day and has her cereal at dinner time. She eats 1/4 cup of cereal with 1/4 cup of milk. It's not as runny now and she handles it well! Next week we'll add a morning cereal meal. Happy eating, little piggy!
