Gearing up for Saturday

My office and the area surrounding my office has been bombarded with Easter Eggs. Just over 14,000 to be exact. Our Easter Egg Hunt is Saturday at 1 pm so bring your kids and get ready for some fun! Our day school kids took a week and a half to stuff over 14,000 eggs. That's quite a task but they love doing it! It's a great way for them to serve their church and community.

Last night Nathan and I took mom around to look at cars. We test drove a Saturn Vue and a Chevrolet Equinox. She liked both of them. We still have a lot of cars to look at. After car shopping we met up with Daniel and Kelsey. We had dinner at China Harbor then took mom home and went back to Daniel's to play Wii with Kelsey. That little girl was exhausted but she kept us playing until well after midnight. Getting up for work this morning was not fun!

Today at work they raised the 2 largest pieces of steel that serve as the "big structural pieces" of the new worship center. I'll post some pictures tomorrow. I changed purses last Saturday to a very small black Claiborne and my camera doesn't fit. Hence, the reason I have no pictures to share.

AMY NEWS....Amy got the results back from her biopsy of her spinal fluid and bone marrow and guess what?.....No Cancer! She's not out of the clear yet. She took me to lunch yesterday and shared the next step, which is to plan the biopsy for the tumors in her brain. Keep the prayers going. They're working!

A Special Thanks to Granny

For Christmas Granny gave us tickets to see Phantom of the Opera. We decided that the perfect night to go and see it was Palm Sunday. A great way to spend a relaxing evening after the busy pageant weekend. I love the theater and have seen many great shows but I've never seen Phantom.

Kelly and Clint were supposed to go tonight too but they're still fighting the flu. She gave Tommy and Christine their tickets. We didn't get to go out to dinner....bummer! We just didn't have enough time. The show was great and I loved it! I love Broadway shows where the sets and costumes are boarder-line over the top and this show definitely was. I'm not a huge Andrew Lloyd Weber fan. I blame that on CATS. My expectations were just so high when I went to see CATS, I left disappointed. I thought CATS was a super long show with "pretty good" music about absolutely nothing.

Back to Phantom...I think my retinas are burned. At one point in the show the Phantom is getting angry at Christine for falling in love with Raoul and to show them his displeasure, fire flashes all across the front of the stage and shoots about 4 feet in the air which is just enough to blind you. I bet the people in the front row singed their eyebrows off.

Hello, Holy Week

I have been very busy the past few days. Thursday night was our rehearsal for the pageant. Nathan had to work so they had to go with just 11 disciples for that night. The rehearsal was ROUGH! It stressed me out so, so bad. Here are some pics from our rehearsal....

Our first show was last night. Jesus' mic wasn't working at the beginning. Not sure what really happened. Adam thinks that Jesus took his mic too far away and it lost it's signal and reset itself. (You think he's right, Seger? Or, is he full of it?) Poor Nate was right in the middle of his solo. Belting it out with all his heart and all his strength, trying to make it loud enough. Linda was sitting in the back and said she heard him just fine.

This morning the shows were much smoother. It's weird to think that today's performances were the last ones that would be in the existing worship center. Here are some pics from today...

Amy and her mom came this morning...

Lacey gets stitches

My mom called last night to tell me that Kelly took Lacey (and Ashley) to the children's emergency clinic around 8pm because Lacey cut her finger with the scissors while working on a craft. Clint was home with the flu and a fever so that's why Ashley went along. Tommy was with Christine close by so he met Kelly at the doctor. It took a while for her to get in and the doctor said Lacey would need some stitches. She got 3 in her right finger, palm side, first knuckle. Kelly said she didn't cry at all. She just buried her head in Kelly's chest. Ashley made sure she could see....but from a distance. She sat quietly as she watched her big sister get stitched up.

Ashley is the one with the scissors obsession. She had been known on numerous occasions to cut her own hair. Her biggest debut was the Monday after our wedding day. She cut all, I mean ALL of her bangs. She's also been known to cut Lacey's doll's hair. I think she's on scissor restriction more times than not. Now that she's seen this scissor accident up close and personal, I think her hands will be scissor free for a while.

Today Kelly and Ashley also have flu like symptoms and fever. Get well soon!

Amy speaks at MOPS

Months ago the MOPS groups at Community Bible Church (amy's church) asked her to write up her testimony and share it with them. She doesn't like to speak to groups of people but since she had such good news of hope and joy she agreed. When Thursday's news came around, everything was put on hold. I guess with time to process everything over the weekend Amy decided that she still has a great message of faith, hope and joy to share even though it appears the cancer is back. Last night she called and asked if I could pick her up to take her to the MOPS meeting. She can't drive b/c of the medication she's on (again). We got to the church and she had her huge support group there along with all the MOPS moms. Dancers and their parents from the studio, a couple girls from AOII, her mom, grandma, sister and many friends.

I knew Amy's testimony would be great. She did such a wonderful job! It was filled with love, scripture, humor, realness, and God's love really shined through her. I'm so proud to be her friend. To everyone who comes across this post, please stop and say a quick prayer for her. Pray for the tumor in her head to completely disappear. Pray for any and all cancer in her bones and throughout her body to disappear. Pray for her body to be completely healed and for her to be healthy and strong. Pray for peace for her, daughter-Addison, husband- Mike and her entire family.

Ava's Baptism Luncheon

Ava Kathleen Gerling got baptized yesterday morning and Nathan and I, along with Emily and Jason, are her God-parents...

I didn't have my camera with me while in the church so I just have pictures of her luncheon at Shawna's house.

Here's Cody and Luke. Cody's eye looks great, by the way. His vision is still a little blurry but the Doc still thinks he's making a 100% recovery from the BB Gun accident last week.

Sweet, sweet girls

This morning I decided it was time to give my sweet girl, Zeta, a really good comb through. Her last grooming appointment was right before we left for Colorado so it's been almost a month. She's been shedding her winter coat and it's all over the floor. Every time we brush her it looks like there is another small dog on the floor. No small dog...just Zeta's hair.

After Nathan woke up we ran some errands and then met up with Daniel and Sylvia for lunch. We ate at Taco Cabana and opted to eat outside on the patio. It was so sunny outside and we were craving a little sunshine. We ate quickly....still cold outside! At least for me, Daniel and Sylvia, it was cold.

We came home and started to dig our first hole in the backyard for our palm trees that Nathan recently uprooted. We really hope they take to their new home in the backyard.

Tonight I went to mom's so she could help me make some potato salad for Ava's baptism lunch tomorrow, which brings me to my other 2 sweet girls. Kelly came over with the Lacey and Ashley. They wanted to help. Well, Lacey wanted to help and Ashley wanted to eat.

Lacey, Mom and Ash

It's funny to see the differences in their personalities. Lacey is like Kelly. Everything in order, calm, a little shy, careful in all she does. Ashley is like I was...carefree, wild, silly, and always wiggling!

Ashley does this thing where she flares her nostrils. I don't know why she does it but I love it. Nathan and I always laugh about it. She frequently says, "Aunt Nickie, show me your big nostrils!" She cracks me up.
