Well, he finally came home and I tried to remain calm even though my heart was almost jumping out of my chest. He came in and sat down and I told him that I had an early Christmas gift for him. He looked around and saw his stocking over the fireplace and said, "I'll wait. You know I like to wait until Christmas to open my gifts."Oh boy! Now what? Still, remaining calm, I gently encouraged him that he really should open this one now. So, he did. He sat down and began to unwrap his present and as soon as he saw the box- HE KNEW. He looked up and said in a kind of sing song-y voice...."What- is- this?" I told him to just open it and this is what happened next.....
We laughed, hugged and then looked at each other like Holyyyyyyyyyy Cow! Now what? What did we get ourselves into? Even though we've always planned for a family and knew we wanted kids we were a little frazzled. So much to think about! We're so used to being just the two of us. We love to travel. We love to go out to nice dinners whenever we want. We love sleeping in on the weekends. Even though some of this might take the back burner for a little while, it's sooooo worth it! We are so pumped about having a sweet baby. Our due date is August 16th which should make for an interesting VBS for this pregnant momma. Please keep us in your prayers. We're praying for an uneventful pregnancy and so far, so good. I've only gotten sick-sick once. I've been fighting all other kinds of illness that are totally unrelated to the pregnancy (allergies, bronchitis)but now I'm feeling pretty good except for the continuous nausea. I'm about 13 weeks now so that should subside pretty soon.
Still to post....our sonogram (totally amazing!) and how we told our families.

Congratulations again to both of you. Don't worry...you will still dream of travels..and it will be of a shorter trip...to bed to sleep! Haha! Seriously, you are embarking on the most wonderful journey imaginable, sit back, get lots of rest now, and start buying those diapers...no kidding!
Ok, I am finished crying and am so excited for you & Nathan! Darlene was puzzled why I got teary eyed and I felt a bit embarrased by it. This is what I have determined... I never got to experience this excitement & joy with my family members and thankfully I am not a grandma yet. My sweet co-workers and friends are the closest I have ever come to sharing this blessing in someone else's life. Now that my kids are almost grown I am just LOVING seeing Rachel, Joy and now you experience pregnancy & motherhood. God's love is amazing, isn't it? (maybe I am just a little teary right now.) I am glad my dream came true -- maybe I am clairvoyant!! (ha!) Congratulations Nicole. You and Nathan will love being parents! Babies are portable, they travel well & there is a wonderful thing called a babysitter so you can still have time for your husband. God it good!!
Congratulations Nicole,
You and Nathan are going to make great parents. I just had a baby shower at my house today for a coworker and one of my dear friends brought over her 4 month old son. Time goes by so fast. Enjoy your pregnancy (the sickness memories will pass-except for the ones when your husband has to pool over on 1604 so you can puke while he's on the cell phone saying "yeah, we're sitting on the side of the road so she can throw up again.") But the little bundle at the end of pregnancy, totally worth it.
God is so good. I remember experiencing for the very first time holding my newborn in my arms and feeling this DEEP love, I felt like it was a glimpse of our Father's love for us. The kind of love where you would lay down your life for another-without having to think about it first. Hard to explain... Praying for a safe, healthy pregnancy.
Sandy
